Roemer Nursery was founded in 1960 by Gied Stroombeek and his late wife Ann, on ten acres of land. Gied was trained in Boskoop, Holland, as a propagator and was employed by Warner Nursery in that capacity for eight years. At first conceived as a liner nursery, Roemer grew into a container production nursery when Gied and Ann planted excess seedlings and cuttings and grew them on to a finished size. Always on the leading edge of propagation and growing, Roemer soon became known as a quality supplier of container material.
Currently, the nursery covers over thirty acres including greenhouses, propagation facilities, potting shed, offices and holly beds. The Display Garden adjacent to the residence is one and a half acres, and is open to visitors. New and exciting plants have been introduced at Roemer from abroad, and from the selection of outstanding examples form production. Gied's expertise in the propagation of broad-leaved evergreens, acquired from his Holland mentor, Siem Van Klaveren, has lead to Roemer being known for fine Holly, Boxwood, and Rhododendron. Many other families of plants are represented in the product offering, making Roemer Nursery a full service container nursery.
